BATON ROUGE — Two top legislative leaders say they have too many questions about a proposed LSU-Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center deal for it to proceed to final approval at this time.

A vote had been scheduled for Friday.

House Speaker Jim Tucker and House Appropriations Chairman Jim Fannin said lawmakers aren’t getting enough information, including how the deal would affect state finances.

LSU and Our Lady of the Lake had been hoping for quick approval.

The (Baton Rouge) Advocate reports today that the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget will likely vote in March on the cooperative endeavor agreement that would lead to the ultimate closure of Earl K. Long Medical Center in Baton Rouge. The budget panel must sign off on the public-private partnership.•
