Message from Dr. Donald Palmisano and the Coalition to Protect Patients' Rights

For those of you who came to the Washington for our Fly-In on October 21, thank you very much!
The Coalition to Protect Patients’ Rights had a very successful event in DC.  We started with a press conference in front of the U.S. Capitol, then we fanned out across the Capitol complex to visit with Members of Congress – and give them a “Second Opinion” on healthcare reform.  By the end of the day, more than 100 representatives from the Coalition had met with more than 65 Members of Congress.  Absolutely tremendous!

This past weekend, I flew to New York to join Wall Street Journal editor Paul Gigot on FOX Business Journal’s Editorial Report.  We had a great discussion about what healthcare reform could mean to the practice of medicine.

Today, the Coalition started running television ads in Maine and Connecticut thanking Sen. Snowe and Sen. Lieberman for their stand in support of patients’ rights and against government-run healthcare.  In the ad, we encourage citizens to call Sens. Snowe and Lieberman to thank them for their work.  I would encourage all of you to watch the ads and call the Senators and tell them how important it is for them to continue to stand strong for patients and against the public option.

And of course, we’re still trying to recruit more people to support the Coalition’s efforts.  So please forward this email to your friends, family, and colleagues and ask them to join the Coalition.

Thank you,

P.S.  Here’s another fun picture from the Fly-In.  We were up in Times Square!
