February 2, 2010 – Baton Rouge General Medical Center today announced that it has reached agreement with Humana on a new contract to allow Humana plan members in the area to receive services at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. The contract covers all inpatient and outpatients services at the hospital, as well as care and services at all First Care Physician offices, effective February 1, 2010.

The agreement includes all Humana plans in the region, including commercial and Medicare Advantage programs (including the State Group, Humana Gold and Humana 65/Medicare plans).

 "We are very pleased that Humana members will once again have the opportunity to choose to receive their healthcare at Baton Rouge General Medical Center and our affiliated physician offices as part of the Humana network," noted Dionne Viator, Executive Vice President, Business Development for Baton Rouge General. "We believe this multi-year contract is a positive and fair outcome of discussions with Humana and we are especially pleased that patients are once again able to access our services and experience our high quality of care."
